Live smart. Live well. Live green.

At Centerra Homes we build green sustainable homes with the whole home in mind. Homes that use energy wisely, reduce your home’s eco footprint, minimize water consumption and help you breathe easier. It’s the good life.

Building green sustainable homes requires measures to reduce energy use and increase the efficiency of the building envelope – which adds up to savings on your utility bills. Our homes include high-efficiency Carrier 14-SEER air conditioning systems with environmentally-sound refrigerant which helps to lower utility bills. Windows with LowE3-366® glass block 95% of UV rays and reduce heat gain by 64%. Multi-stage polysealant is used to prevent air infiltration. Programmable thermostat controls temperature. CFL (compact fluorescent lighting) throughout the home reduces energy usage. Closed cell foam insulation keeps energy bills low by creating a tightly sealed house and keeping exterior moisture and unconditioned air out.

We make a commitment to seek out eco-friendly products and materials whenever possible to help reduce your home's carbon footprint. During the construction phase, the use of engineered wood products and advanced framing techniques reduce the amount of material going to landfills by controlling construction waste and lowering waste water production. Closed cell foam consists partly of recycled plastic material and utiltizes renewable content claimed from sugar beets or sugar cane.

Reducing water consumption and protecting water quality are key objectives in sustainable building. Central Texas drought resistant plantings add to the overall home's curb appeal and conserve water. Drip irrigation utilized in areas reduces water consumption during irrigation. WaterSense® labeled elongated dual-flush commodes, Hunter programmable sprinkler controllers, and Delta fixtures with water conserving aerators – all help to reduce your home's water usage.

Sealing holes and cracks in the home's envelope and in heating and cooling duct systems helps reduce drafts, moisture, dust and pollen. A tightly sealed home improves comfort and indoor air quality while reducing utility and maintenance. Low VOC paints, stains and carpets reduce pollutants and improve air quality.
